ESCONDIDO ---- The city got some additional help Monday to pay for affordable housing projects in the city.Escondido received a low-interest loan of $1.25 million from the California Housing Finance Agency, the state's affordable housing bank.

Jerry Van Leeuwen, the city's director of housing and neighborhood services, said the money will help pay for an affordable housing project already in the works and free up money for additional projects in the future.
